Service goals and intentions

The Indigenous Applicant Advisory Service is a new service available to Indigenous applicants (First Nations [status or non-status], Métis or Inuit) seeking work or already employed in the BC Public Service.

This service aims to increase representation of Indigenous people in the BC Public Service that better reflects the diverse population we serve by offering a service that provides advice and guidance on the hiring process and informs improvements.

What can the Indigenous Applicant Advisory Service help with?

This service can help Indigenous applicants interested in BC Public Service job positions, including temporary assignments, auxiliary appointments, permanent part-time and permanent full-time.

Expressions of interest can receive high level advice and guidance on the hiring system and process, including:

• Navigating the BC Public Service job opportunities web page, including creating a resume profile
• Setting up job search agents for BC Public Service job positions
• Techniques and best practices for tailoring resumes and cover letters to BC Public Service job postings and answering long answer/free form text style questionnaires
• Coaching on the BC Public Service job interview process, including mock interview conversations for behavioural event interviews

Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations [status or non-status], Métis or Inuit) can access this service.

This service is available to Indigenous BC Public Service employees and Indigenous people in the general public.
