Here in New Orleans:

Darby Baham discusses and signs her new book “The Shoe Diaries,” Saturday, February 19, at 6 p.m. at Blue Cypress Books.

Rajika Bandari discusses her memoir, “America Calling: A Foreign Student in a Country of Possibility,” with Megan Holt, Monday, February 21, at 6 p.m. at Octavia Books.

And it’s time to start planning for the spring festival season:

First up is the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University, March 10-12. Featuring John Grisham, Michael Lewis, Nicholas Lemann, Nancy Lemann, John Meacham, Imani Perry, and a full slate of children’s book authors for family day, Saturday, March 12. check out bookfest.tulane.edu for more info.

Next comes The Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival March 23-27, and the Saints and Sinners LGBTQ Literary Festival March 25-27. Books Along the Teche Literary Festival: Celebrating Great Southern Writers and Louisiana Culture in Dave Robicheaux's Hometown will be held April 1-3, 2022 in New Iberia, Louisiana. Later in April, we have the New Orleans Poetry Festival the weekend of April 23. One of the newest and fastest growing festivals, this event attracts poets from all over the world. Check out nolapoetry.com for info.

The Reading Life in 2010, Susan Larson was the book editor for The New Orleans Times-Picayune from 1988-2009. She has served on the boards of the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival and the New Orleans Public Library. She is the founder of the New Orleans chapter of the Women's National Book Association, which presents the annual Diana Pinckley Prizes for Crime Fiction.. In 2007, she received the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities lifetime achievement award for her contributions to the literary community. She is also the author of The Booklover's Guide to New Orleans. If you run into her in a local bookstore or library, she'll be happy to suggest something you should read. She thinks New Orleans is the best literary town in the world, and she reads about a book a day.
