Evan Anstey

A lifelong western New Yorker hailing from Niagara County, Evan Anstey has been a member of News 4’s digital team since 2015.

While nearing his graduation from Houghton University, Evan’s career first brought him to the world of radio via WBTA in Batavia. After planting his roots as an intern, Evan eventually became a man of many hats, serving as a producer, anchor and reporter for the station.

Through his work with News 4, Evan has twice been a finalist for the NYS Associated Press Association‘s Award for Best Digital Presence (2018, 2019) alongside his web teammates. In 2021, Evan also became a New York Emmy Award nominee for his role in News 4’s digital winter storm coverage. The same Emmy-nominated presentation earned him and his colleagues the “Outstanding Podcast” award during the 55th Annual Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting.

Most recently, in 2022, he became a finalist for a Journalists Association of New York Award for Digital Presence.

Although his degree is in rhetorical communication, Evan’s initial studies centered around music, leading him to minor in both music theory and violin performance.

Music remains a very active part of Evan’s life as a performer, composer and recording artist. You can hear him perform around the area with his folk and bluegrass band, as well as indie-prog rockers Meat Raffle, among other groups. More information on Evan’s music can be found here.

Outside of music, Evan enjoys being outdoors on his bicycle or in his kitchen cooking delicious pancakes. Trust me, they’re good. He and his wife Michaela became parents to a baby boy in 2023, and are the “cat parents” of two adopted furry friends.
