Smart Trips Skillshare Sessions at Bellingham Public Library

Why: Get tips on making all kinds of Smart Trips easier
When: Second Saturday of each month, March-August from 10:30am - 11:30am
Where: Bellingham Public Library Central Branch, 210 Central Avenue, Bellingham
Who: Everyone is welcome
Cost: Free, No RSVP needed, just show up

Birding by Bus at Cornwall Park

Why: Learn how to ride WTA buses with a fun group of people
When: Tuesday, April 30 from 8:00am to 11:15am
Where: Meet at Bellingham Senior Center Lobby at 315 Halleck Street, Bellingham
Who: Everyone is welcome, all ages, no need to be a member of the Senior Center
Cost: Free
Good to know: Join us for some Urban Birding and learn how easy it is to use the WTA bus system. No experience necessary with birds or buses, Smart Trips and the North Cascades Audubon Society will be your guides! Wear walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. We will be walking to the city bus stop and through Cornwall Park so you must be able to walk or use your motorized transportation device to travel. WTA passes will be provided if needed, bring a gold card if you have one.

Parkview Elementary Walking School Bus

Why: See how fun and easy it is to walk to school!
When: Friday, May 3. See map for your closest walking route and meet up times. The earliest start time is 7:22am.
Where: Within the desginated walking zone for Parkview Elementary. LINK TO MORE DETAILS AND MAP
Who: Everyone is welcome, parent and guardian participation encouraged but not required. If your student is not able to safely stay with the group we ask you to walk with them.
Good to know: We've mapped four different walking routes to the school. See the map for the route that's closest to your home. Parents and guardians are encouraged to walk, but not mandatory for your student to participate. Smart Trips staff and volunteers will be there to watch out for all participants. There will be no organized walk home at the end of the day. Families will have to make arrangements for students to get home. We'll be walking rain or shine. Dress for the weather. If you'd like to volunteer, please let the school know by using this link

Bike to Work and School Day

Why: If you ride every day, this is your day. You’ll see familiar faces on the streets and trails. If you haven’t been on a bike for years, but you’ve been thinking about getting going again, this is your day. You’ll have lots of company and plenty of encouragement. Many schools and businesses will be hosting celebration stations in the morning. They’ll be cheering for students, employees, and everyone on two wheels.
When: Friday, May 17
Where: Whatcom County
Who: Wherever you work or go to school, everyone is encouraged to dust off your bike and get out for a ride. Work from home? Run an errand by bike that day or check out the celebration station map and take a morning ride.
