CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A Lynchburg teen was taken into custody Friday afternoon in connection with a social media posting threatening a shooting at Brookville High School.
On the evening of Thursday, Dec. 9, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says it began an investigation after receiving numerous complaints regarding a threat of a school shooting at Brookville High School.
The investigation involved assistance from school administration, school resource officers, and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Authorities say the investigation led to them identifying a 16-year-old from Lynchburg as the suspect. Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was no imminent danger or intent to carry out the threat.
According to the sheriff’s office, the teen was taken into custody on Friday, Dec. 10 and charged with threats of death or bodily injury on school property. The suspect was then transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center, where he is currently being held.
