Five teenagers arrested at Carson Beach in Boston
Five teenagers were arrested at a popular Boston beach after police say they got too rowdy.
The incident near Carson Beach in South Boston occurred on Monday, a day where temperatures reached the low 90s.
Police say some young beachgoers got out of control.
The incident happened in the courtyard at the McCormack Bath House near the snack bar next to the beach.
Massachusetts State Police say about 70 young people were gathered there Monday evening, some harassing lifeguards, smoking marijuana and bumping into bystanders.
Troopers say they warned the teens to follow the rules, but that a few of them started yelling insults.
The situation escalated, until at one point, a trooper took his stun gun out of its holster.
Eventually, five teenagers between the ages of 14 to 17, were arrested on charges of trespassing or interfering with police.
Troopers say there was no indication alcohol was involved.
Recently, however, other beachgoers have complained about booze deliveries to the beach.
Boston Mayor Kim Janey said Tuesday, that must stop.
"It is important to make sure that alcohol is served only to those of age," Janey said. "I know many want to keep the cocktails-to-go. This is the fastest way to get rid of it."
