Local motorists have gained experience with RCUT turns in recent years. It’s become a common solution in high-risk areas to fund these turnaround spots in the midst of four-lane roads.

RCUT, which stands for Reduced Conflict U-Turn, are designed to minimize intersection issues. Highway officials tout it as a nationally proven safety method.
