Charlotte Water Little Sugar Creek Tributary Sewer

To accommodate Charlotte’s continued population growth, Charlotte Water (CLTWater) selected STV to design improvements to the Little Sugar Creek Tributary sewers. The firm designed over 7,000 feet of new sewers that were necessary to meet projected area needs through 2040.

The improvement site spans three very different communities: a county-run public park, a residential neighborhood, and a commercial neighborhood with a complex utility infrastructure. STV coordinated across all three communities to conduct environmental permitting, geotechnical investigation, and easement plat development. The design entailed two micro-tunnel bored casings crossings of solid rock, yet still minimized removal of hardwood trees and avoided an earthen dam. Following the design phase, the firm was retained for construction management.
