Kids Tell Us: "Why I Read"
Avoid the Academic Summer Slump
Summer is an exciting time, designated for road trips, summer camps, exploration and more! While this time of freedom is greatly valued, we want to encourage our Wildcats to go on a road trip with a great book or pass time at summer camp while reading or explore new topics with great reading materials. You get the idea! We want our Wildcats to read.
Research has demonstrated that students who do not engage in academic activities throughout the summer expand the gaps between students who excel academically on standardized tests and students who perform at level or below level on standardized tests.
To ensure that each of our scholars are prepared for engaging in reading and learning activities throughout the summer, we have prepared a list of FREE online resources for our scholars. If you have questions about Summer Reading or where to find additional materials, please email Mrs. Johnson, our METI, at johnsonms1@fultonschools.org.
