National Bullying Prevention Month
Provided to our community by the Lancer Library
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
National Bullying Prevention Month is a campaign in the United States founded in 2006 by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. During the month of October communities across the nation campaign to raise awareness and educate people on the long term effects that bullying has on students. The goal of recognizing National Bullying Prevention Month in the Conejo Valley Unified School District is to encourage parents, students, and staff to unite against bullying and share the message that no one deserves to be bullied. Here at Thousand Oaks High School, we embrace the motto #EveryLancerEveryDay and seek to celebrate our diversity while being inclusive to all.
TOHS offers a number of resources for our students who may be struggling with bullying - on both sides of the issue. The Lancer Library also has a variety of books available for checkout on the topic of bullying. See below for resources and ways to give and receive help.

Bullying Prevention Resources for Everyone
Books for National Bullying Prevention Month
The Lancer Library has a variety of books available for our Lancers to in connection to National Bullying Prevention Month. You may wonder - why read about a tough topic like bullying? Study after study shows that all of us - young and old - can benefit from reading about things we don't understand or may be struggling with. The teenage years can be challenging. Young Adult (YA) literature can offer a refuge, as it allows teens to read about characters overcoming challenges that they may also be facing in their lives. It also can improve their outlook on the future. Happy reading!
Click here to access a curated list of the titles (plus many others) you see in the photo below. Be sure to follow us on Insta @tolancerlibrary and Twitter @TOLancerLibrary, where we'll be highlighting a number of the books over the next month.
