SHEBOYGAN - A brand-new red trolley will hit the streets of downtown Sheboygan this summer.

City of Sheboygan’s public transit system, Shoreline Metro, will start its new trolley route June 20. The highlight of this year’s route is a new trolley purchased from Hometown Trolley in Crandon.

The route, known as the Harbor Centre Express, is one of Shoreline Metro’s nine fixed routes. It’s the only one that services the city’s downtown, riverfront, South Pier, Michigan Avenue and marina locations.

Derek Muench, Shoreline Metro’s director, said in a news release: “The Harbor Centre Express is a great way to tour all the exciting things these areas have to offer. Tourists enjoy the opportunity to ride and walk while local residents like taking their children and grandchildren for a ride.”

Catch a ride: The Harbor Centre Express runs through Sept. 3. Weekday hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturdays are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Special Independence Day hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. July 4. Customers can ride all day for as little as $1. The trolley is accessible for individuals with a disability. More info: shorelinemetro.com.
