2024 Awards: CLOSED

AEUS members who have excelled in research and education are recognized during our AEUS Academy Meeting at SAEM's Annual Meeting. Below are descriptions of the awards given.

Nominations for the 2024 Academy Awards will open January 3, 2024 and close February 9, 2024. Note: Past recipients are ineligible for the same award.


AEUS Rising Star Education Award (Faculty)

This new award recognizes early career attending physicians (<5 years since completing residency) who have demonstrated commitment to the field of emergency ultrasound and to SAEM and the AEUS through education on a local, regional, and national scale. Individuals with a track record within ultrasound of teaching recognition, educational awards, education grant funding, peer-reviewed educational publications, or other education activities will be considered for this award. Faculty nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Rising Star Research Award (Faculty)

This new award recognizes early career attending physicians (<5 years since completing residency) who are on the trajectory for a successful career in emergency ultrasound research. Individuals with an early, but already prolific track record of presentations and publications will be considered for this award. Faculty nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Powerhouse in Education Award  (Faculty) 

This award recognizes attending physicians (>5 years since completing residency) who have demonstrated significant achievement in emergency ultrasound education on a local, regional, and national scale. Individuals with a track record of ultrasound teaching recognition, educational or mentorship awards, education grant funding, peer-reviewed educational publications, involvement in innovative curricula, or other education activities will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Titan in Education Award  (Faculty)

This award recognizes attending physicians (>10 years since completing residency) who have demonstrated long-standing commitment and impactful contribution in emergency ultrasound education on a local, regional, and national scale. Individuals with a track record of ultrasound teaching recognition, educational or mentorship awards, education grant funding, peer-reviewed educational publications, involvement in innovative curricula, or other education activities will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Titan in Research Award  (Faculty)

This award recognizes attending physicians (>10 years since completing residency) who have demonstrated long-standing commitment and impactful contribution to the field of emergency ultrasound through research and scholarly activity. Individuals with a track record of regional/national/ international research presentations, multidisciplinary and/or multi-institutional research collaborations, peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, grant funding, and other research activities will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Health Equity Award

This award recognizes individuals who have achieved significant impact in improving health equity with ultrasound.  We will consider a nominee’s advocacy, service, outreach, research, education, or administration outside of a traditional academic setting. A track record of excellence in work done in global health settings, free clinics, street medicine, tribal medicine, refugee care, DEI pipeline development, or otherwise in service of under-resourced populations will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Award for Distinguished Service (Faculty)

This award recognizes attending physicians who have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the field of emergency ultrasound and to SAEM and AEUS through teaching, research, scholarship, and service activities. Individuals with a track record of significant contribution to the betterment of our field and to SAEM will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

Fellow:

AEUS Fellow Education Award

This award recognizes fellows who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of emergency ultrasound education. Individuals who have shown a significant dedication to education which may be demonstrated through teaching recognition, education awards, education grant-funding, educational publications, involvement in innovative educational curricula, and regional or national ultrasound presentations.

AEUS Fellow Research Award

This award recognizes fellows who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of emergency ultrasound education. Individuals with a track record of regional/national/ international research presentations, multidisciplinary and/or multi-institutional research collaborations, peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, grant funding, and other research activities will be considered for this award. Nominees must be members in good standing of both SAEM and AEUS.

AEUS Resident Education Award

This award recognizes residents who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of emergency ultrasound education. Individuals who have shown a significant dedication to education which may be demonstrated through teaching recognition, education awards, education grant-funding, educational publications, involvement in innovative educational curricula, and regional or national ultrasound presentations.
