Wright is the second suspect arrested in Rivers' death. Axtavian "Sunshine" Harris, 18, of Pensacola, was arrested July 7 and also charged with second-degree murder. He also remained in custody at the Escambia County Jail as of Tuesday, according to county records.

According to an arrest report, multiple witnesses told ECSO deputies that they saw Wright and Harris approach Rivers around 7 p.m. June 20 at the Oakwood Terrace Apartments on Truman Avenue. They said they heard gunfire and observed the two suspects running away.

Rivers was found lying unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his upper left arm and the upper right side of his chest. A paramedic declared him deceased at the scene.

Witnesses said that at the time of the shooting, Rivers was standing near an alley between two apartment complex buildings when Wright and Harris approached him, the report stated.

They said that words were exchanged, the sound of gunfire was heads and then Wright and Harris ran to a nearby white Chrysler and fled, leaving Rivers shot and bleeding on the ground.
