About Domestic Violence/ Intimate Partner Violence
Abuse and violence can take many forms, and include attempts to control, dominate, and limit your freedom and safety. Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in a relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Abuse can take the form of:

About Sexual Assault
The term sexual assault refers to sexual contact or behavior that occurs without explicit consent of the victim. Some forms of sexual assault include:
Attempted rape
Fondling or unwanted sexual touching
Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetrating the perpetrator’s body
Penetration of the victim’s body, also known as rape

About Child Abuse or Child Sexual Abuse
Child abuse is an act resulting in serious physical or emotional harm, exploitation or death of a child. Child abuse includes physical, emotional, sexual and neglect.
To report suspected child abuse in Louisiana call the Child Protection Hotline at 1-855-4LA-KIDS. To get medical help or a forensic exam for a child age 18 and under go to Children’s Hospital (for acute cases) or call the Audrey Hepburn CARE Center at (504) 896-9237.
