We Exist Because We Must

Our Mission: to advance the global Black community by developing leaders, informing policy, and educating the public.

Our Vision: a world in which all communities have access to a quality, free public education and an equal voice in public policy through leadership cultivation, economic empowerment, and civic engagement.

The Reginald Weaver Scholarship Fund

The Reginald Weaver Scholarship Fund is designed to create leadership pathways for our members of color and the promotion of diversity and inclusion in leadership within each level throughout our Association.

Our beloved Reginald Lee Weaver is a former president of the National Education Association (NEA), serving from 2002 - 2008. During his term, NEA's membership increased from 2.6 million to 3.2 million members, making it the world's largest democratic, deliberative body. He is the recipient of three honorary doctorates recognizing his “world-class leadership in the efforts to educate children,” and is recognized as having a critical voice on all matters pertaining to public education.
