COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead and another was injured after a shooting at a park on the city’s west side.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 6:32 p.m., Wednesday, officers were called to Westage Park on the report of a shooting.  

Officers arrived on scene and found a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.  

The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old was listed as stable when transported to an area hospital.  

Police say a large group of people had gathered at the park to watch a fight between two males, when two people pulled guns and began firing.  

Many of the people who had gathered to watch the fight and had witness the shooting ran from the scene prior to officers arriving, according to police.  

Police have not identified the victim killed pending notification of next of kin.
