Winter Weather Awareness

North Dakota’s severe winter weather can pose special safety risks.  The National Weather Service refers to winter storms as "Deceptive Killers" because most deaths are indirectly related to the storm.  Instead, people die in traffic accidents during storms and of hypothermia from prolonged exposure to the cold.  The Morton County Office of Emergency Management publishes the "Winter Weather Preparedness and Safety Guide"  to inform Morton County residents on how to prepare for and stay safe in response to threatening winter weather conditions. 

This guide explains the threats and dangers of winter weather and suggests life-saving actions YOU and family members can take this winter season.  By using this guide, YOU can better recognize winter weather threats, develop an action plan and be ready for whatever mother nature throws at us.  Remember...your safety starts with the actions YOU take.  Use the link below to access this guide.
