MAS PROGRAMS

Founded in 1873, the Minnesota Academy of Science is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for Minnesotans of all backgrounds to engage in STEM-related learning, inquiry, research, and networking.  Hosting STEM education programs and events for students in pre-school through college is a vital aspect of our mission.

K-12 STEM Education Programs

2019 Bdote Group

The Fostering Opportunities and Relationships in STEM Education (FORSE) program connects students from communities underrepresented in STEM with free mentors, resources, and enrichment opportunities.

Hundreds of students from across the state compete in teams answering science and math questions during separate tournaments for middle and high school students. The winning teams compete at the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl.

Hundreds of middle and high school students present original research and compete for awards from 35+ organizations valued at $20,000. Top students are selected to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair.

The MN Junior Academy of Science (MJAS) is an honorary society and leadership group of high school and college students from Minnesota who have demonstrated excellence in scientific research.

 

Higher Education STEM Programs

This annual research symposium enables college students from Minnesota and surrounding states to present their undergraduate research to peers, academics, and STEM professionals through oral and poster presentations. The Minnesota Academy of Science Journal of Abstracts features research presented by undergraduates at the Winchell Symposium.


Opportunities for Adults

Science Salon is a forum for professional scientists to stay current on groundbreaking research and emerging technologies and engage in cross-disciplinary networking.

MN STEM professionals support and encourage the next generation of scientists and engineers as mentors, speakers, science project judges, and much more.
