The 42nd Aubrey Greenway Golf and 8th Annual Hagan Cup Classic Tennis Tournament will both take place Sept. 14 at the Country Club of Roswell.
Join over 120 golfers at the Country Club of Roswell championship course for the Annual Aubrey Greenway Golf Tournament. Two flights of golfers will take to the links for bragging rights and a chance at some special prizes.
Both tournaments support over 30 charities in North Fulton communities, generating over $150,000 a year. The tournament attracts large and small business sponsors and individuals in North Fulton looking to make a difference in the areas in which they live and do business.
Rotary welcomes new sponsors and players for both the Golf and Tennis Tournaments. Breakfast at 7 a.m. Golfers will be assigned scheduled tee times with both morning and afternoon flights. Lunch is served mid-day. A ball drop at 12:30 p.m. gives participants the chance to win $1,000.
Seeing a need for a community fundraiser, Roswell Rotarians Frank Brown, Judge Maurice Hilliard and former Mayor of Roswell Aubrey Greenway began the golf tournament in 1978. The first tournament raised $3,500 for charities in the North Fulton community. While the tournament initially started as a Rotary event, it has grown into one of the largest 100% volunteer community fundraisers.
The tournament was named after Aubrey Greenway, after his death in 1991. Aubrey was a dedicated local businessman, civil servant and Roswell Rotarian.
In 2013, the Hagan Cup Classic tennis tournament was added to the fundraiser. It was named after Bob Hagan, in honor of his service to the community and his deep commitment to Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.
Over 60 tennis players will compete in the Hagan Cup Classic. Two flights of players in round robin doubles will battle it out for Hagan Cup trophy this year.
