Happy #EarthDay! Today, we’re celebrating the massive clean energy transition that’s underway in America. Alongside our industry partners, we’re working together to build something the world has never done before: a fully circular, clean energy system. SOLARCYCLE is extracting and separating hundreds of thousands of pounds of precious elements from end-of-life solar panels and redirecting those resources back into the supply chain. What does it all add up to? An opportunity to make old materials useful again, instead of it going to waste. Here’s a roundup of what we and our customers have been diverting from landfills since our founding in 2022:
-
On Friday, the Biden-Harris administration announced that SOLARCYCLE is a recipient of tax credits funded through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which aims to accelerate domestic clean energy manufacturing and recycling. “The IRA’s tax credits will allow our company to rapidly respond to the supply chain needs of domestic solar manufacturers who urgently need a trusted and sustainable recycler that is using old solar materials to make new, ultra-low carbon glass in America. We thank and applaud the Biden-Harris administration and the Department of Energy for their investment in clean energy manufacturing.” - Suvi Sharma, CEO of SOLARCYCLE https://lnkd.in/etKT8TrT

At SOLARCYCLE, we are big fans of reuse! Our Co-Founder Dr. Pablo Dias grew up in Brazil and observed people in his community make old products new again. Since then, he has dedicated his life’s work to e-waste research and the circular economy. Pablo's latest blog discusses an emerging trend of US and European solar owners exporting secondhand modules as a way to help lower-income countries access clean energy. While solar owners may have the best of intentions, his research has shown there are concerns with this approach. Read the full blog below to learn more on this trend, and why we believe in keeping retired solar panels in the domestic circular economy, rather than sending them abroad to be reused. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gcePjaZa

Winning community support for solar projects requires taking local concerns into account, dispelling myths around environmental concerns with quality information, and providing end-of-life solutions through reuse or recycling. On May 15, our Jesse Simons will join a panel discussion at RE+ Texas to discuss how to plan ahead and get community buy-in: 🔷 Taylor L. Curtis of National Renewable Energy Laboratory 🔷 Robert Nicholson of Solar Energy Industries Association 🔷 Kelly Weger of Qcells North America 🔷 Steffanie Dohn of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. We are proud to announce our new partnership with Sol Systems to ensure the company's solar energy projects remain truly sustainable throughout a panel’s lifecycle! Our partnership has already successfully completed projects. 👇 Earlier this year, Sol Systems became one of the first companies in the country to partner with SOLARCYCLE to rapidly and safely recycle panels from a community solar array in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, after it was damaged by extreme weather. Working with our team and partners, they were able to quickly recover, repair, and recycle the damaged panels and get the solar farm running again. "Sol Systems is helping to lead the way and usher in a new era of clean energy, by ensuring that their solar panels get a new life after they have been decommissioned. We are thrilled to be working with their team on our shared mission to make solar even more sustainable, and we look forward to recycling their solar panels for many years to come.” -Jesse Simons, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder of SOLARCYCLE. When damage to solar panels from extreme weather happens, there can be a lot of information flying around on the internet. It can be difficult in the moment to help the public separate fact from fiction. As the country’s most advanced solar recycling company, we know a few things about what happens when a solar panel breaks. Read our latest blog by Jesse Simons on 3 myth busting tips to help explain why solar panels are safe, reliable, and recyclable. https://lnkd.in/eF3nGcHb Solar Energy Industries Association, The AES Corporation, EDF Renewables North America, EDP Renewables North America, Greenbacker Ørsted, Silfab Solar Inc., Silicon Ranch Corporation, Sunrun, Qcells North America
