About us
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health, is improving health through smarter science. NCATS conducts and supports research on the science and operation of translation to allow more treatments to get to more patients more quickly. The Center focuses on what is common across diseases and the translational process by studying translation on a system-wide level as a scientific and operational problem. Working in partnership with the public and private sectors, NCATS strives to develop innovations to reduce, remove or bypass costly and time-consuming bottlenecks in the translational research pipeline; demonstrate their usefulness; and disseminate the resulting data to the broader scientific community. Thank you for the opportunity to celebrate and champion #WomenInScience! Check out this article on NCATS Director Joni Rutter ⬇
At a recent Mayo Clinic Celebration of Women in Science Lecture, Joni Rutter, Ph.D., director of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), highlighted the importance of inclusion to boost scientific progress. "Find your team" and "continuously expand your skillset" were Dr. Rutter's most consistent pieces of advice to help women advance their careers and research. Vesna Garovic, M.D., Ph.D., director of Mayo's Center for Clinical and Translational Science, says she felt inspired by how Dr. Rutter connected the inclusion of women in science to the principles of team science and translational science. "She challenged all of us to promote inclusion to create systemic change so that scientists can accomplish research more effectively, predictably and rapidly to meet the unmet needs of patients." NCATS staff and leadership had the exciting opportunity to discuss #N3C’s capabilities at the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) congressional demonstration earlier this week. The NAIRR pilot program aims to advance responsible discovery and innovation in #AI research. N3C is an available resource to support the NAIRR Secure pilot, a focus area of the NAIRR pilot program. NAIRR Secure will enable research that involves sensitive data and will assemble privacy and security-preserving resources. Learn about N3C: https://go.nih.gov/TKxCSKB 📸 NCATS Director Joni Rutter, Ph.D., pictured with NIH Associate Director for Data Science and Director of the NIH Office of Data Science Strategy Susan Gregurick, Ph.D.

New research sheds light on the early metabolic changes that occur in children with autism. Check out the study partially supported by NCATS’ #CTSAProgram ⬇️
As a mother of an adult autistic son, I read with interest this #NIH-funded study at UC San Diego which identified biochemical pathways that are responsible for most of the metabolic changes that occur between birth and the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a child. https://bit.ly/4dHrVib #autism #ASD #AutismResearch #research #NIH
