The Louis Plung & Company team was out last night celebrating the best in the boardroom at the NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Three Rivers Chapter 2024 Director of the Year Awards Gala! Managing Partner Lou Plung (and wife Lori Plung), Partner Thomas L. Bakaitus, Jr., and CMO Beth Bershok were in attendance at the Fairmont to honor David Shapira (Giant Eagle) who received the William Hernandez Lifetime Achievement in Governance and James Nickel (CIBC) who received the award for Leadership in Non-Profit Governance. David & Jim – thanks for your outstanding leadership and for everything that you do for our community! Congrats to all of the 2024 honorees including Leroy Ball (Koppers, Inc.), Doris Carson Williams (African American Chamber of Commerce), Global Links, and LB Foster.  

On Thursday May 2, Louis Plung & Company Audit Manager Joseph Repko, CPA, Audit Senior Manager Brandon Bupp, CPA, Audit Senior Peyton Michaels and Audit staff member Garrett Yarman joined Financial Industries Network (FIN) for their annual Sporting Clays Shoot event-- which took place at the Highland Sporting Clays at Seven Springs! Louis Plung Audit Senior Manager Rachel Jenista, CPA is also on the Board of Directors for FIN. Thanks for such a spectacular afternoon, FIN!

Congrats to everyone who participated in the 2024 Pittsburgh Marathon activities over the weekend – it was a record crowd with over 42,000 participants! Louis Plung & Company congratulates 4 team members – Miranda Safran & Sam Heineman, CPA who both ran the half-marathon for the first time, Donna Parlak (pictured with her husband Daniel crossing the finish line) who ran the half-marathon for the second year in a row and Garrett Yarman who finished the full marathon. Thanks to Audit Senior Doug Levis for serving as a Marathon volunteer for the 6th year in a row – he was stationed at the finish line handing out medals. The Louis Plung & Company team were out in April supporting a couple of fantastic organizations in our community:   Partner Scott Blatchford, CPA, EA and wife Marta Blatchford were part of Pittsburgh Metsquerade at the Marriott City Center on April 20th – raising money for metastatic breast cancer research through METAVIVOR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT INC. Son Mason served as a volunteer and the evening raised an amazing $176,000!   On April 26, a group that included Partners Lindsay Andrews, Anthony Montanaro, CPA, ABV, CFE, Thomas L. Bakaitus, Jr. & CMO Beth Bershok joined The Women of the (Duquesne) Club for A Midnight Radio Production performed by Bricolage – with proceeds supporting The Neighborhood Academy (TNA) – a college preparatory school for grades 6-12 dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering youth. TNA Head of School Anthony Williams inspired the crowd and then it was a wild ride through six acts of live theater resembling a 1940’s radio broadcast.

Louis Plung & Company CMO Beth Bershok enjoyed an evening of connecting at The Pittsburgh Business Group's (TPBG) Super Seven event at Dave & Buster’s at the Waterfront.   Seven nonprofits were featured, and Beth had the honor of speaking on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter (she’s Co-Chair of the Board of Directors) along with the Association’s Development Manager Nathaniel Sofranko.    Thanks to TPBG for an inspiring evening!

What a perfect way to wrap up busy season! The Louis Plung & Company team celebrated at Pins Mechanical Co. on the Southside with duck pin bowling, ping pong, life sized games, pinball, and fun with our colleagues (even the infamous pink flamingo made an appearance)!
