Addressing Funding Challenges for Mental Health Initiatives in India
24th April 2024: 10:00 (BST) / 11:00 (CEST) / 14:30 (IST)
The Catalyst 2030: Mental Health Collaboration are hosting their next webinar on the 24th of April and it's set to be a great chance to discuss mental health funding in India.
Mental health is beginning to feature on the donor agenda in India philanthropy. Over the last decade or so, many new donors are giving in different ways to support mental health initiatives. Yet, considering the massive scale of the challenge, much more private funding is needed. However, donors face significant hurdles when funding this sector. For instance, there is a lack of a clear path for donors in terms of ‘how to’, a dearth of credible data and knowledge, and pervasive stigma associated with mental health that often limit interest from donors. Navigating this complex terrain requires concerted efforts and innovative approaches.
How can donors and nonprofits overcome these challenges? What would motivate new and increased funding for mental health? What are some ways to think about outcomes? This webinar will address these questions and more, based on the collective experiences of the social sector in India.
Ketaki P. (Centre Head for the Centre for Asian Philanthropy India) will be joined by Jasmine Kalha (Program Director and Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy) and Disket Angmo (Strategy & Operations Lead of Mann Talks) for this panel discussion.
