Information about Upcoming Legal Clinics
Monthly Veterans' Legal Advice Clinic
The Veterans' Legal Advice Clinic is a regularly scheduled legal advice clinic for veterans that began in September 2016. Since that time, hundreds of veterans have received assistance in a wide variety of legal issues, including family law, landlord/tenant, bankruptcy, criminal defense, consumer protection, contract disputes, child support, and personal injury, among other issues.
The clinic is held every other month on the second Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty Street. (2024 dates are February 14, April 10, June 12, August 14, October 9, and December 11.)
The Veterans’ Legal Advice Clinic is a joint project of the Knoxville Barristers, the Young Lawyers Division of the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA), KBA/Barristers Access to Justice Committees, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, the University of Tennessee College of Law, Lincoln Memorial University- Duncan School of Law and the local VA office.

Preregistration is not required for the in-person clinic. The clinic will be held from 12 pm - 2 pm at the Knox County Public Defender's Law Office.

Tennessee Faith & Justice Alliance Legal Advice Clinic
The Tennessee Faith & Justice Alliance is a project of the Tennessee Access to Justice Commission. In the Knoxville area, the program is coordinated by the Knoxville Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, the University of Tennessee College of Law, and the generous lawyers, law students, and others volunteering their time and talent.

Debt Relief Legal Advice Clinic
The KBA's Bankruptcy Section, in partnership with Legal Aid of East Tennessee and with the support and involvement of United States Bankruptcy Judge Suzanne H. Bauknight, will be holding a Pro Bono Debt Relief Clinic to provide pro bono legal services to income-eligible consumer debtors. LAET staff will screen potential clients and give instructions to complete a questionnaire and bring it along with tax returns and pay stubs to the clinic. The next Debt Relief Legal Advice Clinic will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, in person at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty Street, Knoxville, TN.
