AIESEP 2024

Oral Presentation

In order to get the abstract published into the abstract book the participant is reguired to pay the registration fee and participate in the on-site conference.

In oral presentations, speakers will report recent findings in fundamental or applied research followed by a short discussion with the audience. Oral presentations are limited to 12 minutes, which includes a 2-3-minute discussion.

Poster Presentation

In order to get the abstract published into the abstract book the participant is reguired to pay the registration fee and participate in the on-site conference.

Instructions

Please pay attention to the following when preparing your poster: 

• Poster layout dimensions: A0: 118.9 cm (height) x 84.1 cm (width), portrait format 
• State the title, the authors, and the institutions at the top of your poster in easily readable bold letters 
• Indicate the presenting author if different from the first author 
• Disclose your potential conflicts of interest 
• The text and the illustrations should be readable from a distance of 2 meters 
• Velcro (easiest to use), pushpins, or thumbtacks will be provided to mount your poster. 
• The presenters are asked to set up the poster on the congress venue on Tuesday 14^th May, and to take it away on Friday 17^th of May.

The presence of authors at their posters 

The presence of authors at their posters will be required only during the scheduled poster session on Wednesday 15^th May at 8:15-9:45 a.m., in order to permit presenters to visit and discuss the work of others. It is recommended that you hand-carry your poster to the conference. Refer to your acceptance letter and/or the final conference program for the location of your poster session. 

Poster competition: The AIESEP wants to highlight the poster presentation as an excellent way to present one's research. Therefore, the poster evaluation committee will choose the best three posters in every congress including AIESEP 2024 in Jyväskylä. It may be your poster that brings new, meaningful scientific knowledge to the audience in visually attractive way!

Printing poster at the University of Jyväskylä: The material has to be in PDF-format, in the right size (A0: 118.9 cm (height) x 84.1 cm (width), portrait format) and the resolution in the pictures needs to be minimum 300 dpi.

• A0 posters can be ordered in three different materials: paper, synthetic paper or stretch canvas.

• Deadline to order the poster: 6^th of May

• The finished poster should be picked up between Mon-Fri 9-16
• Payment method: On site with a card only

Paper and plastic posters must be transported on a roll.

Fabric posters can be folded into a suitcase, etc.

Symposium

In order to get the abstract published into the abstract book the participant is reguired to pay the registration fee and participate in the on-site conference.

A symposium is a performance by 3-6 researchers under a certain topic or theme. A symposium is scheduled for 75 minutes. One possible structure of the symposium: The Chair of the Symposium introduces the Symposium background and theme (15 min), three presenters each have 15 minutes to present, and, in the end, Chair leads an open discussion (15 min).

Participants are invited to submit abstract proposals for oral and poster presentations, as well as symposia at the congress. The theme of AIESEP 2024 is 'Past Meets the Future'. The scientific program focuses on various disciplinary fields and perspectives. The submissions are categorized into following themes:

• Physical education teacher education, professional development
• Health teacher education, professional development
• Coach education, professional development
• Physical literacy, health literacy
• Physical activity in children's and adolescents' life
• Physical activity interventions
• Pedagogy and didactics in physical education
• Physical activity supporting children's and adolescents' overall development

Abstract submission here

Abstracts must be written in English within the scope of the themes. The abstracts are restricted to 3000 characters including spaces, main text and the references. It may not contain any tables or figures and is restricted to ASCII-characters only. References (optional) in the text must be kept to the minimum and must be cited at the end of the abstract. In the submission form, the title and the theme of the abstract and information about presenting author and co-author(s) are requested.

The author may state the preference for the type of presentation (oral, poster, or symposium). However, the AIESEP Scientific Committee will make the final decision of the presentation format. The abstracts will be published in the Book of Abstracts before the congress. Deadline for Proposals for Symposiums, Oral and Poster abstracts is October 31, 2023.

NOTE: Each author is allowed to present max. two (2) abstracts. Each presenter needs to pay registration fee before including the abstract in the abstract book. Deadline to pay registration fee is April 13th, 2024. Later registrations may lead to an exclusion of the abstract. The receipt of your abstract submission will be confirmed by e-mail.

Guidelines for scientific abstract submission (Oral and Poster presentations)

The text of the abstract should include (without subheadings):

• Aim of the study, case or project (preferably in one sentence)
•  A brief description of the methods used
•  A summary of the results obtained
•  A discussion / conclusion

Guidelines for Symposium proposal (Overall description and abstract submission)

1. Chair of the Symposium submits a Symposium proposal (3000 characters maximum), which includes overall description of the Symposium:

   - Planned title for the Symposium
   - Topic / content of the Symposium
   - Reasons for why there should be a Symposium about this certain topic. 

2. Scientific Committee evaluates the Symposium proposal. 

3. If the proposal is accepted, chair of the Symposium collects abstracts from all presenters of the suggested Symposium and submits all the abstracts. NOTE: When submitting the abstract for the Symposium choose “Presentation as part of a Symposium” as a presentation type.

   Guidelines for Symposium abstract submission follows the guidelines for scientific abstract submission. Registration by the presenting author must be made at the latest by April 13, 2024, to guarantee publication in the Book of Abstracts! Later registrations may lead to an exclusion of the abstract.
