The Power of the River - A Movie Premier to Benefit Hearthstone

  • Hearthstone Historic House Museum 625 W. Prospect Avenue Appleton, WI 54911 USA (map)

PERRY HALL, UW OSHKOSH - FOX CITIES, 1478 MIDWAY RD, MENASHA, WI

The Fox River doesn't just slice through the heart of our communities. It is the heart of our communities.

Join film maker Dan Larson as he explores the past, present, and future of a waterway that dominates Northeastern Wisconsin in this new, feature-length, documentary.

Proceeds from the premier will support Hearthstone Historic House Museum. Hearthstone - which was built by visionary Henry Rogers in 1882 - has its own important connection to the river. Rogers not only helped found the paper industry along its banks, he used the mechanical power of the falling Fox to make Hearthstone the first residence any where in the world to utilize hydroelectricity and an Edison system for lighting. This makes Hearthstone, which is marking its 140th anniversary this year, the "Birthplace of Green Energy."
