Kate Goodall

  • Kate Goodall (she/her) is a Managing Partner of the Halcyon Fund where she is using her decades of experience to invest in the impact-driven future of business. She is also the Co-Founder of Halcyon. Kate has a long history of supporting entrepreneurs and impact-driven businesses. Nearly ten years ago, Kate and Dr. Sachiko Kuno made a bet on the impact-driven future of business when they co-founded Halcyon. Now that bet is paying off and as Managing Partner of the Halcyon Fund, she is taking the concept of impact-driven business to the next level. In addition to her work at Halcyon, in 2016, Kate helped establish WE Capital, a consortium of leading businesswomen investing in and supporting women and women-led companies.

    As a graduate of North Carolina State University, Kate has a B.A. in English. Kate also holds an M.A. in maritime history and underwater archeology from East Carolina University. Interestingly, Kate began her professional life as a maritime archeologist where she honed her expertise in staying calm under pressure, literally and figuratively.

    Kate’s business prowess has been recognized many times over. She was listed as DC Inno’s Fire Blazer, one of the Washington Business Journal’s Power 100, 40 Under 40, Women Who Mean Business, and Washington’s New Guard, Washingtonian’s 2017 Tech Titans, and Techweek 100 DC’s Talent Cultivators. Kate has also received the Crittenton Leadership Award, is a Sorenson Global Impact Leader, and a member of YPO.

Dahna Goldstein

  • Dahna Goldstein is a Managing Partner of Halcyon Venture Partners.

    Dahna’s passion for entrepreneurship comes from personal experience. As a two-time founder, Dahna co-founded Resistance by Design in 2018, and was the founder and CEO of PhilanTech, which was acquired by Altum in 2014. She is also a Senior Fellow in the Digital Impact and Governance Initiative at New America. Prior to starting PhilanTech, Dahna worked for venture philanthropies, including Ashoka and Blue Ridge Foundation New York. She has written extensively about social impact. She has taught courses in blockchain at American University’s Kogod School of Business and technology entrepreneurship at Georgetown University, where she is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence.

    A graduate of Williams College, Dahna also holds a master of education degree with a concentration in technology from Harvard University and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. Dahna has been named one of Newsweek’s “13 Women Entrepreneurs to Bet On”, one of BusinessWeek’s “25 Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs”, and one of Technical.ly’s “RealLIST Connectors 2023”. She is a DCA Live “Power Woman of DC Tech,” a DC Inno Fire awardee, and a Washingtonian Tech Titan.

Phoebe Van Duinen

  • Phoebe Van Duinen (she/her) is a Principal at Halcyon Venture Partners and focuses on sourcing, due diligence, and supporting portfolio companies.

    Phoebe joined the Halcyon team in 2021 as an Investment Manager, where she managed social impact investing at Halcyon for the Halcyon Fund, Halcyon Angel Network, and Microloan Fund.

    Prior to joining Halcyon’s team, Phoebe worked in management consulting at Deloitte, focusing on strategic process improvement and technology implementation for IT organizations within the federal government.

    Phoebe graduated as a Presidential Scholar and magna cum laude from George Washington University, with a B.A. in International Affairs, and she concentrated her studies in International Economics and Business. She is also a 2023 DCA Power Woman.
