Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; four years of experience in radio communication-electronics installation maintenance or comparable certification or training working with communication-electronics systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to distinguish between various colored wires; understand and operate hand/power tools and electronic test & measurement equipment (wattmeter, service monitor, multimeter, etc.). Desired: FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL Elements 1 & 3). Troubleshooting, project planning, and team leadership skills. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. 

Duties

Provides installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Chesterfield County communications systems and equipment (both mobile and infrastructure related). Provide technical support to Installations Bay team as well as Systems Analysts in the repair and maintenance support of overall communications infrastructure (currently 800 MHz trunking system, utilities monitoring systems, tower maintenance, etc.). Provides on-call duties on a schedule as well as tasked to oversee special communications installations projects (at fire stations, schools, etc.). Perform other work as required. Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; on-call shift approximately one week per month.
