Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (associate's degree in engineering, business/project management, or related technical field is preferred); five years of hands-on experience in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of IP based network video systems, networked electronic access control systems, and intrusion/duress alarms is required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Significant experience or certification with Ocularis, DSX, Digital Monitoring Products (DMP), and AXIS systems highly preferred. This position is subject to random drug testing. Should possess OSHA safety training, or the ability to obtain OSHA safety training within the first 3 months of employment. Must be able to function well in a team environment, as well as work well with minimal supervision. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a wide range of county personnel. Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer and the Microsoft Office suite, experience with Microsoft Teams preferred. This position must be able to work on ladders and lifts. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

Duties

The Electronic Security Systems Technician is responsible for performing all first line troubleshooting, repairs, system inventory, testing, and preventive maintenance tasks for an established and growing county-wide security program consisting of over 100 facilities, and involving contracted vendors as needed. This position will be tasked with the development and execution of a structured preventive maintenance/testing program for all current and future electronic security systems. Systems currently utilized are DMP, DSX, AXIS, and Qognify Occularis. To be successful, this position must establish and maintain customer service based working relationships with county officials, public safety representatives, mental health and social service representatives, county information technology resources, and other key county resources. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available to respond as needed to address emergency system failures that may occur after business hours. Perform other work as required

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include after hours as needed to address system failures and emergency repairs.
