During the morning of July 9th, my brother Steven's life was changed forever. He was shot in the face by an unknown man that came up to him while he was helping his wife take out the trash in front of his home.Thereafter, he was immediately transported to the nearest hospital where he got treated for his injuries and had to undergo major surgery to repair his mandibular and other facial features. Sadly, he is now unable to talk or breathe properly on his own.

Steven is a loving father and husband of 2 children and was the sole provider of his family. He would always put the needs of others before his. He is loving, caring, energetic, selfless, and brave.
We are going through a very difficult time right now emotionally and financially and would like to request donations to help us alleviate the cost for current and upcoming surgeries and other expenses in order to provide better care for my brother.
Update 7/28
Steven is home after spending weeks in the hospital. His insurance denied his rehabilitation claim so his wife had to learn how to properly care for him which includes but not limited to learning how to clean and repair his tracheotomy, feeding him 3 times a day through a feeding tube in his stomach, cleaning and managing his jaw brace and pins. And whatever else he is no longer able to do for himself.
Everything is coming out of their own pocket and he is not able to work for at least the next 8 months or longer because he still has two major reconstruction surgeries coming up.
They are beside themselves with all the rising medical bills, Steven’s new nutrition regimen, medical supplies, portable suction machine for his mouth, regular monthly expenses such as their car payment, insurance, storage and day to day living expenses.
His wife says she feels so overwhelmed that it sometimes feels as if they are being punished for this unspeakable act.
She says “his spirits are down and I try very hard to be there to lift him up on the days he needs to be lifted up”
