Help Nurses and Doctors

Doctors nurses and medical staff working directly with COVID-19 positive patients in the ICU are going without PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Many are only using paper face masks, that are rationed and reused. A friend who is the head doctor of a respiratory ICU at a prominent hospital in Los Angeles, contacted me over a week ago, desperate for face shields-which act as a barrier to caregivers being infected. My three daughters, Fiancé and I made her 5 masks, which she took with her to the hospital; we then delivered 100 more the next day. The two ICU nurses who met us to receive the masks were in tears with gratitude. To date, we have made nearly 1000 masks, which have all been distributed directly. We have shipped them to Boston, New York City, Washington State, San Francisco, New Jersey and more. The masks are based on a design by Johns Hopkins University. They're reusable and are able to be cleaned and sterilized. Hospitals have been out of supplies and unable to order more, as there is a shortage. In addition to paying for the supplies and materials to produce the masks, we have paid rush shipping for nearly every requested lot. We have been asked how much we are charging per mask, and our answer is: better than free. We have spent roughly $2,500 and delivered 500 to local Los Angeles hospitals. Every nurse or doctor that I've spoken to says they are desperately in need of this item. Our family is so grateful to these professionals, who are literally putting their lives on the line, and the lives of their own families, by working directly with COVID-19 positive patients. We will work daily, making these masks, until they are no longer needed, or until all of the big brand companies that are doing press releases about how they are going to make them, ACTUALLY make them.
