While many students have found the total out of state cost of Georgia College & State University to be affordable, many have benefited from our Distinguished Scholars Program, which covers the full cost of out of state fees.
A first-time freshman student for Fall 2023 who is a non-Georgia resident and has EITHER a 3.62 GPA (as calculated by the Office of Admissions), 1161 SAT (Math + EBRW) or a 24 ACT, may be selected as a Distinguished Scholar and will receive the value of an out of state tuition scholarship (Value: Approximately $76,720 for four years or $19,180 per year) to be used towards undergraduate studies.
An incoming transfer student for Fall 2023 who is a non-Georgia resident may qualify for this scholarship by having a transfer cumulative GPA of 3.28.
How to Apply:
1. Meet GPA and/or test score minimums.
2. Submit a complete application for freshman and transfer admission within deadline specifications and you will automatically be considered.
This scholarship is based on availability and will be awarded on first come, first serve basis to qualified students. Note: The scholarship values are tied to the cost of out of state tuition. Values above are based on 2022-2023 rates. Eligibility criteria are subject to change each academic year.

Out Of State Tuition Waivers
In accordance with the University System of Georgia Policy Manual 7.3.4.1, Georgia College may award out-of-state tuition differential waivers and assess in-state tuition for certain non-Georgia residents in the categories below.
1. Economic Advantage
Economic Advantage is for students whose self or family have relocated to Georgia to accept full-time, self-sustaining employment and have established domicile in Georgia.
2. Georgia National Guard and Reserves
Georgia National Guard and Reserves personnel who are stationed in or assigned to active duty in Georgia (applicable for spouses and dependents)
3. Military Personnel
Military Personnel stationed in or assigned to active duty in Georgia (applicable for military spouses and dependents)
4. Non-Resident Students
Non-Resident Students whose parent or court-appointed legal guardian has maintained domicile in Georgia for at least twelve consecutive months prior to enrollment at the college or students whose spouses have maintained domicile in Georgia for at least twelve consecutive months prior to enrollment at the college.
5. Recently Separated Military
Recently Separated Military personnel who have separated within the past thirty-six (36) months who enroll in an academic program and show intent to become a permanent resident of Georgia; or any separated service member or any student utilizing transferred VA educational benefits, and physially residing in the state, who enrolls within one hundred-twenty (120) months of separation is also eligible.
6. University Employee
Full-time University System of Georgia employees or dependents.
7. Full-Time Public School and TCSG Employees
Full-time public school and Technical College System of Georgia employees or dependents.
8. Academic Common Market
The Academic Common Market is a cooperative tuition reduction agreement among 15 Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) states. If the public institutions in your home state do not offer degree programs in your field of study, it may be possible to arrange a wavier of out of state tuition to attend a cooperating public institution of higher education in another participating state.
Qualification:
For students wishing to enter a program as an Academic Common Market student, the following steps are to be followed. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the Academic Affairs office of their home state about possible access through the Academic Common Market.
1. The student must first be accepted for admission into a program for which his/her state has access through the Academic Common Market.
2. The student must then be certified as a resident of his/her home state. Each state has developed its own forms and procedures for certifying students. The criteria for certification are at least as strict as those used by the state in classifying students as residents for its own academic programs. As long as the student remains enrolled, this certification will be valid.
3. After certifying the residency of an applicant, a representative in the Academic Affairs office sends a notice of certification to the student and to the institutional coordinator at the receiving institution.
4. The institutional coordinator then makes arrangements with the appropriate officials at his/her institution so that the student is not charged out-of-state tuition fees.
