Arguing the University of Texas Medical Branch had been top-heavy with leaders who were not physicians, President Jochen Reiser on Wednesday announced a major shakeup of the organization’s upper ranks.

Of course, “transitioned out” means “fired”, but it’s probably okay to have more physicians at the top. I hope UTMB is able to get enough staff so people don’t have to wait so long for an appointment. I try to keep my healthcare there but the inability to get timely appointments has on several cases pushed me out of the system.

I’m with you Gary. Patient care is a worthy goal but if it takes four months for an appointment or. 11/2 hours to educate and get through their call center to where you need to go, patient care is just a pair of words. I look forward to the day some compassionate leader gets rid of most of their call centers.

Gary, I went to the doctor a couple of week ago for the first time in 20 years. I got an appointment two days away, and had no wait at the doctor's office. And the doc was a Tech grad. So, win-win-win. It was through my job's BCBS network. I was very happy with the experience. Hopefully UTMB will prioritize patients more in the future.
