Risch: Religious Freedom is a Fundamental Human Right

BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement ahead of International Religious Freedom Day on October 27:

“Every person around the world deserves the right to practice their religion without fear. Unfortunately, freedom of religion is under attack in every corner of the globe, including the Uyghurs, Tibetans, and other ethnic minorities in China, Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia, and Yazidis, Baha'is, Christians, and others in the Middle East. On this International Religious Freedom Day, the United States recommits to the promotion of religious freedom, including through the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Reauthorization Act of 2022 that was signed into law last month. I will continue to do all I can in Congress to ensure religious freedom is respected globally.”
