WHO

Virtual UMGC Financial Wellness Day is organized by the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) Finance and Economics Department and includes UMGC Certified Financial Planning (CFP) students and highly qualified CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™professional volunteers from the Financial Planning Association, National Capital Area (FPA NCA).

WHAT

You may have pressing financial questions that need immediate answers. The UMGC Finance and Economics Department understands how many individuals have not had the opportunity to discuss those questions with professional financial planners. This has presented us with the prospect of sharing our resources with other organizations to bring you the Virtual UMGC Financial Wellness Day.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals accompanied by UMGC CFP students will be stationed at booths and will meet with residents one-on-one to address important financial issues including getting out of debt, retirement planning, investment strategies, income taxes, insurance, mortgages, and foreclosures, among many other topics.

One-on-one advising will be available on August 11, 2021, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm ET. Participants can schedule appointment times in advance. Attendees can bring documents to share with professionals. Individual consultations will not exceed 20 minutes and are confidential.

The event will also feature a series of classroom-style educational workshops in the virtual auditorium addressing key personal finance topics, such as the following:

• Investing Basics: Be a Smarter Investor

• Real World Retirement Planning

• Estate Planning – Introduction to the Essentials

All participants will receive a program hand-out that includes the agenda, names of professional volunteers, and sponsors. A Resource Center will offer personal finance information in downloadable documents, videos, and other content in a searchable resource library.
