SAM DEL ROWE, REPORTER, FINANCIAL ADVISOR IQ: I'm here with Aaron Leak, senior vice president at International Assets Advisory. What are some best practices for new advisors?

AARON LEAK, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL ASSETS ADVISORY: I think number one is communication. I think being able to communicate with your clients is huge, whether in good times or bad times. I think especially in bad times or-- I don't want to say bad times but volatile times, I think clients usually just want communication and want to know that you're in front of it. I think there's always something that we can do no matter what the markets, up or down. There's always different options or different strategies that can be put in place. I think just having that open line of communication with the clients is key.

And number two, I would say, definitely always giving your clients a recommendation I think is huge, even from a compliance standpoint, whether that be to buy, sell, or hold. And I think that hold recommendation can be very important at those times when you're telling your clients, 'Hey, the strategy we have in place is doing well and it's doing what we designed it to do, I recommend we hold.' I think even saying that word "recommend" is huge, especially for a new advisor. For clients to hear you're recommending your advice to me is to stay where we're at or to hold, and I think it's huge.
