About this event

With more than twenty years of experience in civil liberties, civil rights, and racial justice work, Dr. Kubic leads the work of the ACLU of Florida and hundreds of thousands of supporters across the state. Dr. Kubic holds bachelors’ degrees from the George Washington University, as well as a master’s degree and a doc-torate in Black Politics from Howard University. His first book, Freedom, Inc. and Black Political Empower-ment, was published by the University of Missouri Press in 2016.

Dr. Kubic will address the movement for fairness and racial justice, the recognition by ordinary people that change is needed, and the work being done on these issues.

Proceeds benefit the Greater Naples AAUW Charitable Foundation, Inc., which:

  • Awards academic scholarships to deserving local women pursuing post-secondary degrees;
  • Supports the AAUW Greater Naples Branch STEAM Conference for fifth-grade girls in Collier County Public Schools, teaching them and their parents about opportunities in science, technology, engineer-ing, arts and mathematics;
  • Supports the AAUW Greater Naples Branch Reading is Fun program, giving books to disadvantaged children in the neediest Collier County public elementary schools; and
  • Supports the AAUW StartSmart and AAUW WorkSmart Salary Negotiation workshop programs.
