About this event

Contact Committee is excited to present Jimmie Allen on Monday, May 9th at 7 PM in the University Chapel. While he is most well-known for his electric onstage musical performances, Jimmie Allen's keen ability to tell inspiring and thought-provoking stories is unparalleled. Allen is a survivor and has experienced homelessness and bipolar disorder. Yet none of these obstacles ever stopped him from persevering. He's now a Billboard-charting musician, CMA Awards New Artist of the Year, and ACM Awards New Male Artist of the Year winner in 2021 (the first black solo performer to do so, in fact).

Now, Allen has widened his focus to include using his voice to effect change, speaking on the wisdom he has garnered throughout his journey, the importance of leadership, the urgent need for greater diversity in music and entertainment, destigmatizing discussions of mental health, and an overall message of hope and compassion in the face of unbelievable odds.

Tickets are free to the Washington and Lee community and will be available starting Monday, May 2nd.
