On Tuesday, 10 May 2022, the FEMM Committee reported on the first trilogue negotiations on “Gender balance among non-executive directors of companies listed on stock exchanges”.

At the FEMM meeting of 10 May 2022, FEMM co-rapporteur Evelyn Regner (S&D, Austria) reported to the Committee after the first trilogue on gender balance among non-executive directors of companies listed on stock exchanges, which took place on 29 March 2022.

The European Parliament adopted its position on this proposal at first reading already on 20 November 2013. Since then it was blocked in the Council and Parliament waited for a decade for the Council to adopt its position on the proposal.

The situation changed when the French Presidency proposed a general approach on the text which was adopted by the Council on 14 March 2022. This opened the doors for the inter-institutional negotiations.

The second trilogue is planned on 12 May 2022.
