Certificate in Online Teaching Pedagogy

Continuing Education & Professional Development in conjunction with AEA Learning Online offers a certificate in Online Teaching Pedagogy. This certificate validates that the holder has successfully completed all of the required courses and six hours of elective courses. These courses were developed by AEA Learning Online and Drake University Continuing Education & Professional Development.

In order to receive the certificate, you must take all courses for graduate credit through Drake University Continuing Education & Professional Development. Please contact Chuck Sengstock upon completion of your coursework. He will validate that you have completed the courses and issue your certificate.

Required courses

  • Online Learning 101 (3 credits)
  • Instructional Design (2 credits)
  • Online Facilitation (2 credits)
  • Online Assessment, Feedback, and Evaluation (2 credits)

Elective courses (students must complete six hours of electives)

  • Blended and Synchronous Learning Design (3 credits) EDMA 223 - Drake/PLS
  • Blending/Flipping Your Class 3 (2 credits)
  • Blending/Flipping Your Class 4 (2 credits)
  • Blended Learning (2 credits)
  • Blended Learning in the Elementary (2 credits)
  • Building Online Collaborative Environments (3 credits) EDMA 224 - Drake/PLS
  • Designing Online Lessons (2 credits)
  • Designing Online Assessments and Activities (2 credits)
  • Online Teaching Best Practices (2 credits)
  • Personalized Learning (2 credits)
  • The Developer’s Cohort (2 credits)

The certificate will be issued when the student has successfully completed all of the required courses as well as six hours of electives. The certificate validates completion of the course sequence and/or a concentrated area of study but is not a degree or endorsement.
