Cory REED, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was captured on October 14, 2021, in Canyon, Texas.Working off tip information, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents, located and arrested REED at a residence in Canyon. Dalhart PD assisted in the fugitive investigation.In 2010, REED was convicted of two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child following incidents involving a 14-year-old girl. He received two sentences of 10 years’ probation to be served concurrently. In 2011, he was convicted of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender’s Duty to Register and received five years’ probation. However, in 2012, REED’s probation was revoked for Sexual Assault of a Child (X2) and Failure to Comply with Sex Offender’s Duty to Register. He received two 8-year sentences and a one-year sentence to be served concurrently. REED was released on parole in March 2019.REED had been wanted since September 8, 2020, after the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.REED’s arrest was the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers and a reward was paid.
