EXCLUSIVE: Biden's FCC nominee Gigi Sohn sits on board of nonprofit that wants to uphold online sex work and that honored an OnlyFans dominatrix who boasts about urinating on faces

  • Gigi Sohn joined the board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation in 2018
  • In 2020, the EFF honored dominatrix Mistress Blunt with a 'pioneer award'
  • If confirmed, Sohn would tip the FCC's Democratic majority 3-2

Gigi Sohn, President Biden's pick for a vacant seat on the Federal Communications Commission, is a proud member of a nonprofit that wants to uphold sex work online, and which honors sex workers including a dominatrix who boasts about urinating on people's faces.

The organization is called the Electronic Frontier Foundation and is designed to protect free speech online.

The group protested against SESTA - a legislation introduced under the Trump administration - that cracks down on sex trafficking in 2017, claiming it would 'censor' sex work.

Sohn, 61, took her seat on the EFF's board in 2018, two years before the organization honored a sex worker called Mistress Blunt.

Blunt, who sells her work on OnlyFans and other sites, was celebrated in 2020 with the EFF's 'Pioneer Award'.

They have since partnered together again to protect sex workers' 'digital rights'.

Sohn is up for a seat on the FCC for the second time, but the vote on whether or not she'll be sworn in remains in a deadlock.

If she is given the position, she would tip the board's Democratic majority.

Blunt did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com's inquiries.

A spokesman for EFF told DailyMail.com that Sohn had no role in selecting Blunt for the Pioneer Award.

Sohn indicated in a February 2022 letter to the acting General Counsel for the FCC that she would step down from EFF if her government appointment was confirmed.

On her social media pages, Blunt boasts about being able to teach 'c**ksucking techniques.'

In her acceptance speech of the EFF's Pioneer Award, she said: 'Sex workers were some of the earliest adopters of the web.

'Sex workers were some of the first to use ecommerce platforms and the first to have personal websites.

'The rapid growth of countless tech platforms was reliant on the early adoption of sex workers... [but ]Not all sex workers have equitable access to technologies or the Internet.

'This means that digital freedom for sex workers means equitable access to technologies.'

Sohn has not commented on her connection to EFF and whether she intends to use a seat on the FCC board to protect sex work.

Biden re-nominated Sohn earlier this month along with a slate of other stalled picks.

The selections did not get approved by the US Senate which was split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking ties.

The new Senate, however, has a slight Democrat majority that Biden hopes will push his nominees through.

If confirmed, Sohn will become the first openly gay FCC commissioner. She and her wife Laura have been married since 2008.

Sohn was an aide to Tom Wheeler when he was chair of the FCC under President Barack Obama.

Democrats say she is uniquely qualified for the job.

Sohn last year complained that she was the victim of 'unfair' and 'untrue' criticism from Republican Senators.

Sohn's track record led to the Directors' Guild of America urging the Senate to reject her last year.

They said she is a firm opponent of copyright law, so much so that placing her on the FCC would harm the economy by opening the door to widespread copyright theft.
