Superintendent's Office
February 27, 2024
Dear Staff and Families,
As we near the end of February, it is important to recognize that this month is designated as African American History month. We honor the contributions of Black Americans in science, literature, mathematics, history, politics, and recognize the African Americans’ struggle for freedom and equality and their incredible resilience and humanity.
Although there are designated months to honor and educate ourselves about important topics, groups of people and ideals, the work of creating a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and safe environment for all and valuing and honoring our rich diversity is one that must be ongoing. This is as important as ever as we continue to witness and hear from our students, staff, and community members at times about their experiences as people of color. It is imperative that each and every one of us recognize the harm caused by racial slurs and derogatory language and respond clearly and decisively to repair the harm.
I am proud of our school district’s efforts in supporting our students' academic achievement and social and emotional wellbeing, and know that we can always strive to do better. When we all work in solidarity to uplift one another and when we model love and respect, everyone benefits. I truly value your partnership in this important endeavor as you work with students at home and in the community.
With gratitude and hope,
Parvin Ahmadi
