You should apply as a first-year student if you are currently a senior in high school or in an early-middle college program. Those who have graduated from high school or completed high school equivalency such as GED but have not earned any college credit after graduating should apply as first-year students as well.
Apply as a transfer if you have graduated from high school or earned high school equivalency such as GED AND have any earned any college credit in a fall or spring term. Western Michigan University does not use the Common Application for transfer applicants. Find the transfer application at wmich.edu/apply.

“Western won me over because there are so many different programs to choose from. I've chosen public health as my major, but I'm interested in so many things and I don't want to get trapped if I find something else that interests me. Western has a lot of other majors.”
