A closer look at the astonishing spike in Greater Cleveland’s coronavirus cases; up 1,259% in just 7 weeks

Coronavirus case rates in Greater Cleveland

The two-week rates for coronavirus cases per 100,000 people are up sharply in each of the seven counties regionally over where they were at just a few weeks ago.Rich Exner, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The daily updates from the Ohio Department of Health have almost become numbing; 8,000 newly reported coronavirus cases one day, 7,000-plus the next. Then another 7,000, again and again, almost as if by routine.

But a step back to what the numbers were like just a few weeks ago - not only for cases but also for trips to doctors and hospitals - delivers a harsh reminder of how sharply things have turned for the worse in Ohio’s quest to merely get a handle on the spread of the virus until a vaccine arrives.
