Delk Construction Selected As Contractor for Berryhill Park Renovation

The City of Searcy announced Wednesday that Delk Construction has been awarded the contract for the Berryhill Park renovations. Bids for the project were accepted through August 9, seven companies submitted bids, and Delk Construction was identified as the lowest bidder. The announcement came after the A&P Commission voted on Tuesday to provide the funding needed to complete the project.

“We’re excited that the A&P Commission has elected to move forward with funding this project,” Project Engineer Bear Davidson of Davidson Engineering said. “Seven total bids were submitted, and we were glad to see a local firm, Delk Construction, submitted the lowest responsive bid.”

The project will consist of six tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, restroom and concession building, electrical overhaul, lighting, picnic tables, benches, and landscaping. The tennis and pickleball courts will be built to national standards that allow Searcy to host tournaments. In addition, the updated electrical and lighting will better support the Holiday of Lights.

“Our goal as the A&P Commission is to work with citizens to identify and fund projects that promote our city,” A&P Commissioner Chris Howell said. “The updates to Berryhill Park will give us the facilities needed to host a variety of events throughout the year while also enhancing our parks system.”

The A&P Commission is funding approximately 86% of the project and the City of Searcy is funding the remaining 14%. The total contract for the project is $2,664,345.

The contract is pending final approval by the Searcy City Council. Once the mayor has signed the contract, Delk Construction will have 12 months to complete the project. Click here to view project design renderings.
