Spring Clean-up

2024 Spring Clean-Up Week April 13-20

The landfill will be open on Saturday, April 13 and Monday, April 15 through Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. During this time, the landfill will accept items from city of Mandan residents, such as furniture and appliances free of charge.

During Clean-up week Mandan residents may place bulky items for special waste collection pick-up at their boulevard curb only. Items WILL NOT be picked up in the alleyways. Only items placed in front of houses on the boulevards will be picked up by Spring Clean-Up crews. Items must be placed on the boulevard by 5 a.m. on your normally scheduled garbage collection day, but not more than 24 hours in advance of collection.

Keep items separate from household garbage. Spring Clean-Up items must be kept separate from household garbage and items you do not want to be picked up. Items to be picked up cannot be mixed in with household garbage (bagged or loose) otherwise items will not be picked up. Mark items such as old garbage cans, crates or boxes that you want to get rid of; otherwise these items will be emptied and left at the pickup site.

Appliances. Crews will pick up items that can be lifted by two people and placed on the boulevard such as furniture and appliances. Appliances must be free of food and other items to be collected by Spring Clean-Up Week crews.

Mobile Home Parks & Apartments. Clean-up crews will not be entering private streets or property, including apartment complexes. CITY LANDFILL. The City landfill is located approximately 3 miles west of Mandan on Business Loop I-94, then south on County Rd 82 1/2 mile, and west 1 mile. Remember to tie down or tarp all loads to prevent littering along the roadway. As of October 2014, all unsecured loads are subject to a $20 Fee. The unsecured loads can be refused, and littering is punishable by State Law.

GRASS COLLECTION SITES. For your convenience, the City of Mandan has grass collection sites throughout the city. Weather dependent, these sites will open April 1. Only residential grass, leaves and garden clippings are to be placed in the dumpsters. Plastic bags are to be emptied and placed in the garbage cans provided. Improvements have been made to clean up all our sites, and we ask the public to help prevent these sites from becoming unsightly. Placing unwanted items at these sites is enforced by City Ordinance and punishable by a $500 fine.

  • Lawn Care Service providers need to continue to take clippings and branches directly to the City of Mandan Landfill.

CARDBOARD & NEWSPAPER COLLECTIONS SITES CLOSED. The cardboard and newspaper collection bins at the 810 8th Ave SE / Dog Park location have been removed because cardboard and newspaper items can now be placed in residential recycling containers. Retaining the bins would have come with additional costs. Trans Trash is willing to accept larger cardboard items at its facility, 1800 40th Ave SE (just east of Kist Livestock Auction). Trans Trash has a cardboard-only recycling bin for corrugated cardboard items such as shipping boxes, pizza boxes and retail displays. Waxed cardboard is not accepted at this location.
