Thomas Steidel

Columbus - Thomas E. Steidel, 78, of Columbus, passed away on October 15, 2021 at his home in Columbus, OH. Tom was born on June 3, 1943 in Cincinnati and grew up in Dayton, KY. Tom served in the U.S. Army Reserve and later joined the Cincinnati Fire Department. He enjoyed many positions in the Fire Department and ultimately retired as The CFD Fire Chief. After retirement from CFD, Tom worked as Assistant City Manager of Covington, KY and City Manager of Lawrenceburg, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Steidel and Ethel Steidel (Krogman)as well as his brother, Stan. Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon Steidel (McCarty), sons Scott (Erica) Steidel and Kevin (Brittany) Steidel, grandchildren: Sullivan, Camryn, McCarty, Jackson, and River, and a sister in law, Louise Steidel. Tom and Sharon enjoyed most of their retirement years together in Southwest Florida. Tom spent many Florida days soaking in his pool, keeping up with the stock market, and enjoying many friends. He was an enthusiastic fan of The Cincinnati Bengals, Reds & the University of Cincinnati Bearcats and loved watching these games with family, especially when Sharon provided her famous "nacks" (aka snacks.) He loved the holiday season and was always especially generous during this time of year. Tom was adored, loved, and respected by his family and many friends. He lived an extraordinary life that he was very grateful for.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home 241 Fairfield Ave. Bellevue, KY. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm Thursday. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Charity of Choice.
