We will be looking for staff that have high moral character, love for the outdoors, an enthusiasm for life, and an interest in working with special populations. Minimum age of staff is 18. In addition to our paid summer staff, Camp ASCCA offers volunteer opportunities for interested high school students ages 15-17 who desire to work with people with disabilities on a short-term basis during the summer.
The C.I.T. (Counselor-In-Training) will work alongside experienced counselors to learn valuable skills to prepare them for future Camp ASCCA employment. This hiring process is very competitive as we hire a very limited number of C.I.T.’s each summer.
The Summer Nurse is part of a team of four nurses. Our nursing culture here is proactive and excitingly different than most nursing environments. There is a four bed Health Center where nurses may treat campers and staff. Camp ASCCA has a staff to camper ratio of 2-3 to 1, and they take care of the majority of ADLs. We offer 7 sessions in the summer and one week of paid orientation. There will be scheduled time off during the sessions. Housing is provided at the Health Center; each nurse will have their own efficiency apartment. All meals are provided, and each nurse will have a mini-fridge and microwave in their apartment.
If you are passionate about nursing and think that making evening rounds with a headlamp is cool, then you are the kind of nurse we are looking for at Camp ASCCA. Camp nursing is like no other type of nursing. We strive to help our campers and staff stay healthy and happy while at camp. We also enjoy some fun ourselves!
RNs and LPNs are encouraged to apply, and you must possess, or be able to get, an unrestricted Alabama Nurses License. While a shorter commitment may be considered, we would prefer a full time commitment for the entire ASCCA summer.

The PR Staff Position is a paid position that requires living on campus.

**Due to financial constraints, we ask that any groups wanting to provide volunteer services that would require the purchase of supplies (lumber, paint, etc.) please be able to provide the materials or donations for purchasing the materials.
