PUR Home is an eco-friendly small biz by Angela and Michelle Richardson. They're Leaping Bunny–certified and specialize in laundry care products and household cleaners.
Promising review: "I switched to using nontoxic products several years ago. I've tried sooo many different natural laundry detergents/soaps and none of them were ever satisfactory. They smelled great in the bottle but my clothes always had a weird smell and they never felt clean. I gave up trying to find one that worked, but my sensitive skin has flared up a lot from using commercial detergent, so when I stumbled upon this brand I was doubtful that it would work — but this stuff if AMAZING!! It leaves my clothes smelling super fresh and it actually cleans them. Highly recommend, especially if you suffer from extremely sensitive skin!!!" —Kendra C.

Promising review: "We LOVE PetPlate! Jade has been a picky eater since we got her at eight weeks. We tried a couple different foods but when we landed on PetPlate we knew it was a WIN! It was the FIRST TIME she was RUNNING to eat and licking her bowl clean at the end, wanting more. Also, our vet let us know that the 💩 doesn’t lie and it solidified after she started eating PetPlate (no lie, it was like within hours so much better haha)! It was and is such a relief knowing Jade is getting all of the nutrients she needs to grow. We stay in touch with customer service to switch around plans for her weight and they’re always so lovely and helpful. AND it's a Black-owned biz!!!! PetPlate wins allll around!" —Jessie B.

Avec is a woman-founded business specializing in making mixers, and thereby your cocktails, packed with real juice and natural botanicals. The sampler comes with three each of the flavors Jalapeño and Lime, Ginger, Hibiscus and Pomegranate, Grapefruit and Pomelo, and Yuzu and Lime.
BuzzFeed writer Kit Stone gave them her stamp of approval. In her own words:
“The way my life is set up, the very day I want a good cocktail is the very day I have no ingredients to make it happen. To be honest, I’ve never been much of the bartender, and when it comes to cocktails, I need something tasty that drowns out an overpowering spirit. So anything that came ready-to-go where I only had to add my spirit of choice, was already a win for me. After tasting, I was sold. The Avec Mixers take all the guesswork out of what to put in and how much. And, you can even drink them by themselves over ice without adding any alcohol at all. My personal faves are the Grapefruit & Pomelo and Yuze & Lime. If you want a super simple solution to super tasty cocktails, this is definitely the way to go.”

Beauty Bakerie is a cruelty-free cosmetics company founded by Cashmere Nicole, and it's mastered the perfect shade range for people of color.
Promising review: "I have been looking for a setting powder like this for a long long time. I am seriously pale. Usually, even the lightest shades of setting powder will go on darker than my actual skin and look bad. However, this powder is white. It's actually brightening. I never thought I would find a setting powder that was brightening for my skin tone. I have combination skin, and this setting powder does a really nice job keeping things matte without cracking or looking too powdery." —Katie C.

Promising review: "Canned beans from my local supermarket are always a disappointment so I stopped getting them. I don't have time to cook beans myself but A Dozen Cousins beans are fresh and taste terrific. I am trying to eat healthier and these are a great way to do that. I've been trying to avoid packaged, processed foods but the natural ingredients make these different. I can feel good about eating them. The beans are whole and not mashed-up like in cans. All of the varieties are seasoned well and versatile. I've had them on their own, in salads and in wrap sandwiches. I'm really happy to have found these and hope they continue to add new flavors and products. Do yourself a favor and order some. You won't regret it." —Amazon Customer

For all the folks who don't enjoy cleaning the toilet — myself included — these dissolving tablets make quick work of a grimy bowl. The tablets are a little hard to dislodge from the plastic container (although that does make me feel confident that they're secure during transit and won't break; mine all arrived intact!), but once you get one out, you drop it in the toilet and let it do its thing. It'll start fizzing — just like a bath bomb — loosening any stains and streaks in 10 minutes so they come away with a light brushing. I never let the toilet get too bad (and usually it takes awhile for me to notice any buildup since there are only two people in the apartment), so I can't vouch for them if you have really set-in hard water stains or haven't cleaned the commode in six months. But if you're looking to ditch the harsh cleansers in your toilet cleaning routine, this is a great addition to your lineup.
Get six tablets from Pardo Naturals for $10.50 (available in seven scents).

Promising review: "I'm a huge fan of this serum and am on my second bottle! I have lighter skin, with some Southeast Asian background, so my skin is affected by hyperpigmentation and it takes a long time to heal scars and discoloration. First of all, the brand is just absolutely stunning, feels very luxurious but on the affordable end compared to bigger brands. The smell and feel and look of the serum is really nice and milky and smooth and lightly scented. I have to stop myself from using too much because I love it and I think it's been a wonderful product to help even out my skin tone! I BARELY GET ANY REDNESS ANYMORE!!! Which is amazing. Big fan of this brand and their story and very interested to see what they come up with next. I think my only small concern is trying to get the last of the product out of the jar but I need a little spoon to help I think." —marleighsea

My skin is dry/combination and really sensitive (acne and eczema prone), especially in the winter. I use this cleanser as the second step in my routine after my oil cleanser and I love that it cleanses my skin without stripping it, and leaves it feeling soft.
